Why don't you accept my insurance?
Therapy for Living LLC is committed to private hour long sessions with the same physical therapist who performed your evaluation. The plan of care for each patient will be determined by the patient and therapist, not insurance regulations. In addition to providing a higher quality of care, these practices usually facilitate faster progress.
Insurance companies have been progressively lowering reimbursement to therapists and all health care providers. As a result, many physical therapy clinics have hired P.T. Assistants and Aides to do most of their therapy treatments instead of allowing Physical Therapists to truly follow and build relationships with their patients. Therapy clinics all over the country have turned into "therapy mills" where Physical Therapists may have 10-15 minutes with a patient before sending them on to do exercises or receive a modality (ultrasound or electrical stimulation) with an Aide or Assistant. The other option is usually treating more than one patient at a time. This is not high quality care or the way that we choose to do business.
Being a cash based practice allows us to keep our pricing lower than more traditional therapy clinics. Without having to hire extra staff to focus solely on billing, our per unit charge is significantly lower. In this era of high deductibles, most patients with private insurance actually save money (co-pays, deductible, co-insurance) when they just pay cash upfront.
Can I be reimbursed by my insurance?
We will provide you with all of the paperwork that you need to submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Whether or not you are reimbursed for your services depends on your insurance company and individual policy.
What should I expect on my first visit?
We will schedule 2 hours for your initial visit. This visit will consist of a thorough initial evaluation; assessing your overall posture and alignment, strength, motion of your trunk and joints, how you walk, and your balance. For patients coming in for pelvic floor rehabilitation, it is most effective when we can do a pelvic floor assessment in addition to the areas mentioned above. However, our first goal is for each patient to be comfortable, and we will progress based on each patient's comfort level.
You will also receive a treatment of Myofascial Release and initiation of a home exercise program during your initial visit.
It is helpful for all patients to wear loose fitting shorts and for women to either have a sports bra, bra, or tank top to wear for evaluation and treatment. We also request that patients refrain from wearing any lotions or oils on their skin. Myofascial work is performed directly on the skin, and all lotions and layers of clothing impair its efficacy.
How often will I be seen?
You and your therapist will determine the frequency of your treatments. Most patients are seen 1-2 times a week initially with the expectation that you will work on your exercises independently at home. We will focus on hands-on treatment and education while you are in the clinic.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, and credit or debit cards. This includes health care spending account debit cards.
